Justin Hughes
Graduate Fellow
Ph.D. Candidate, Materials Science and Engineering

Justin is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, advised by Prof. Russell Composto. His research focuses on applying physics-informed Bayesian optimization workflows to study phase behavior in polymer blends and nanocomposites, with the goal of understanding process–structure–property relationships. Building on this work, he is extending the Bayesian optimization framework to investigate solid polymer electrolytes for next-generation battery technologies. Justin graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2022 with a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering.
